This portal was built to be usable with a keyboard, with a screen reader and with tired eyes. Here is what it does, and it can all be checked.
Contrast. Every colour pair in the portal meets level AA of the WCAG 2.1 guidelines. The tightest is secondary text on the background, at 4.17 to 1 against a minimum of 3. The yellow from the crest is never used for text: on white it gives 1.28 to 1.
Keyboard. The whole portal can be used without a mouse. Dropdown menus open on focus and close with Escape, and there is a skip link to the content that appears on the first tab press.
Screen readers. Images carry alternative text in both languages — it is required to upload one from the panel — and decorative ones are marked so they are not read out. Option groups, breadcrumbs and live messages use the ARIA roles they should.
Motion. Anyone with reduced-motion enabled in their system sees no animation at all: not the section reveals, not the figure counters, not the welcome window.
Text size. The portal is laid out in relative units: enlarging the browser text to 200% breaks no page and forces no horizontal scrolling.
What is missing. The interactive curriculum map is a graph, and navigating it with a screen reader is awkward even though every course is reachable by keyboard. It is the weakest part and the one to improve.
